ANSI/ESD Standard

Polyonics provides a wide range of options for manufacturers requiring ESD-Safe tapes, especially those with static dissipative and/or low charging features. Our ESD-Safe tapes meet the requirements of ANSI/ESD S20.20, IEC 61340 and JEDEC JESD625B standards for process required charged insulators used in proximity to static sensitive devices. Watch our product in action on this video.

Electrostatic discharge (ESD) can occur when static charge is released, in the form of electrical current, into a sensitive (ESDS) device. If the charge exceeds the specified threshold of the device, it can cause immediate or latent damage. ESD can also generate electromagnetic interference (EMI) that can cause logic resets and corrupt data communications. Even with the implementation of antistatic bracelets, booties, ionizers, etc. the ESD problem continues to grow. Careful attention is now being given to the role of induced charges from process-required insulators in ESD Control Plans. Continue reading

Img3425_smallPolyonics ESD labels and masking tapes provide both static dissipative and low charging performances that comply with the ANSI/ESD S20.20 requirements for process required insulators. With surface resistances of greater than 10^4 and less than 10^11 Ohms and accumulated charges of 125V they have proven to be effective tools in reducing electrostatic discharge in S20.20 control plans.
